Meta Drčar & Bart Lunenburg
Annotations
23/10 — 21/12/2024
Meta Drčar and Bart Lunenburg present their first joint exhibition, Annotations. Although both artists primarily work in different formats, mediums and materials, they share a common characteristic of extracting from architecture rather than only adding to it. The multidisciplinary exhibition works as a large, interconnected spatial installation; firstly, it is to be understood as a conversation between the two artists, their separate practices and polarity of warm and cold, hard and soft, light or heavy materials. Furthermore, the exhibition presents them, reacting to the built and natural environment in the same way all great architecture does, by intervening into it so that the gallery itself becomes part of the work.
Slovenian-born artist Meta Drčar (1985) is based between Paris and Arbois, France. She graduated in fine art from London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (2009), and obtained her Master’s degree in dancing and performance at London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (2012). Drčar has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions all over Europe, including Art Brussels (BE, 2024), Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, sculpture park, Sint-Martens-Latem (BE, 2022), Galerie Stadtpark, Krems an der Donau (AT, 2022), Mana Contemporary (USA, New Jersey, 2020). She is the recipient of several work grants and residencies, most notably Woning Van Wassenhove (Sint-Martens-Latem, 2021), WWA Fabrikken, Copenhagen (2020) and KulturKontakt/Austrian Federal Chancellery, Vienna (2019).
